Performing to critical acclaim for more than 20 years and 3000 shows, Dark Star Orchestra
continues the Grateful Dead live concert experience. Their shows are built off the Dead’s
extensive catalog and the talent of these seven fine musicians. On any given night, the band will
perform a show based on a set list from the Grateful Dead’s 30 years of extensive touring or use
their catalog to program a unique set list for the show. This allows fans both young and old to
share in the experience. By recreating set lists from the past, and by developing their own sets
of Dead songs, Dark Star Orchestra offers a continually evolving artistic outlet within this
musical canon. Honoring both the band and the fans, Dark Star Orchestra’s members seek out
the unique style and sound of each era while simultaneously offering their own informed
improvisations.

THE BURNOUT DAYS TOUR

on The Stone Pony Summer Stage
For flipturn, success didn’t arrive overnight. The band, comprised of Dillon Basse (lead vocals, guitar), Tristan Duncan (lead guitar), Mitch Fountain (synth, guitar), Madeline Jarman (bass), and Devon VonBalson (drums), grew steadily with every gig, from college house shows in their home state of Florida to festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits, to national recognition from Jimmy Kimmel Live, ABC News, and The Washington Post – earning the Jacksonville-based band an international reputation as an indie rock powerhouse. By the time flipturn released their debut album, Shadowglow, they’d become genuine road warriors while still in their mid-20s, supporting the record with a nonstop string of tour dates. That dizzying experience inspired the band’s second release, Burnout Days. Caught halfway between 21st century indie rock, New Wave-inspired nostalgia, and rhythmic alt-pop, Burnout Days finds the beauty that exists between five friends, even in times of burnout.

WILD RIVERS
Everywhere We Go
North American Tour
with verygently
Platinum-selling indie trio Wild Rivers, Khalid Yassein [guitar, vocals, keys], Devan Glover [vocals], and Andrew Oliver [lead guitar, synths], have a gift for penning introspective lyrics and genre-fluid melodies that transmit wisdom beyond their years. That expertise can be found across their new album, Better Now — a companion to their latest record, Never Better.
Recorded at the same time in Joshua Tree, CA with co-producer Gabe Wax (known for his work with artists such as Soccer Mommy and Adrienne Lenker), both Never Better and Better Now are filled with the band’s “inventive melodies, rich harmonies, and lush instrumentals” (Associated Press) and reflect their personal and creative growth the past few years, as they’ve faced burnout, mental health challenges and the complicated, confusing and unknown realities of life in their twenties.
“On the first record, the songs contain raw, absolute and instinctual feelings,” Wild Rivers shares. “In many ways, Better Now is the afterglow of this. We’re reflecting and understanding that relationships change over time. Complicated situations can be just that, complicated. Feelings can remain unresolved. If the first record is bright and bold, this one is the softer gradients in between; the sunrises and the sunsets. Both projects make up the full spectrum of who we are.”
“Finishing Better Now, we really felt that it was the close of a massive musical and personal chapter,” the group continues. “It’s bittersweet but so meaningful to be able to chronicle our lives between these projects. Ultimately, we are optimistic; ‘better now,’ after the ups and downs of the relationships and turbulence of our twenties. Hopefully we’re wiser for it.”
Born in Canada, Khalid, who is half-Egyptian, and Devan, who spent her childhood in London, England, before returning to Canada, first connected at Queen’s University in Kingston in 2013. Starting out as an acoustic singer-songwriter project, Khalid and Devan expanded their aesthetic to a more full-bodied sound, adding multi-instrumentalist Andrew, whom Khalid calls their “Swiss army knife.”
Sonically, Wild Rivers pull from a spectrum of sounds, imbuing pop, rock, indie, and folk into each song’s blueprint. Devan explains, “We all converge on the classic songwriters. Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles and Elton John. Then today, we have influences across the map, indie, hip hop, R&B, and pop. But even in those genres, most of those artists are referencing another era of music, which we think is really cool. We like to pull our favorite parts of every genre and patch them together and see what works and see what feels good.”
Since their 2016 debut, Wild Rivers has released three albums including 2022’s Sidelines, which landed at #9 on the U.S. Spotify Debut Album Chart. Released to critical acclaim, Under The Radar praised, “expertly straddles the lines between folk and indie, offering an empathetic and enveloping comfort and a piece of poignant pop beauty,” while American Songwriter declared, “Soul-stirring…rich male/female harmonies bring the emotional lyrics to life.” Following the release of Sidelines, Wild Rivers was nominated for Breakthrough Group of The Year at the 2023 JUNO Awards, saw their breakout single, “Thinking ‘Bout Love,” certified Gold in the United States and Australia and Platinum in Canada, and garnered over 850 million global streams. The group also spent much of their career touring across the world including countless headline shows as well as dates supporting artists such as The Chicks and Noah Kahan. Known for their engaging live performances, Wild Rivers will continue to tour through this fall with their international headline tour, which includes sold-out shows in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Dublin, Denver, Atlanta and more.

The Head and the Heart
Aperture Tour
on The Stone Pony Summer Stage
with Wilderado and Marfa
As The Head and the Heart toured behind their 2022 album, Every Shade of Blue, Jonathan Russell realized something needed to change inside the band he had cofounded a dozen years earlier: the entire songwriting process. Sure, they’d had Platinum singles, including “Honeybee” and “All We Ever Knew,” but the tandem of success and encroaching adulthood had forced sometimes-unspoken changes over the years. Russell, for instance, often took on lead songwriting duties, even bringing in outside collaborators to bolster his ideas. Their early band energy faded a bit, a slight disconnect forming between the songs and the members, even between one another.
Aperture, The Head and the Heart’s sixth album, is the affirming sound of their restart. After leading so much of the songwriting during the last decade, Russell ceded that role to everyone, shooing away siloed work for a highly collaborative approach where everyone hatched tunes together in a room or passed ideas between coasts. With every song fortified by the sense of beginning again, Aperture is The Head and the Heart’s most vital and poignant album. It is the best work they’ve ever done.
Really, all of Aperture sounds like the work of a band reaching unimagined levels of camaraderie and mutual risk as one, at once. A spirited homage to honesty and love, “Jubilee” is like the sun suddenly bursting from the clouds. It bounces like a piece of pop-punk and arcs like a Springsteen classic. During “Beg Steal Borrow,” The Head and The Heart’s trademark harmonies conjure communal aspirations. And there may be no better summary of this fellow feeling than the mighty “Arrow,” a shout-along song about sometimes needing the space to roam and fail on your own and sometimes needing to be guided and helped by those around you. The Head and The Heart has finally found a way for its six members to find their own ideas and then build them, together, into something magnificent.

After a long absence, Rilo Kiley — Jenny Lewis, Blake Sennett, Jason Boesel, and Pierre “Duke” de Reeder — are back, with arms outstretched. Over the years, a reunion “felt like a possibility, but it was never the right time,” explains Boesel. Eventually, “the emotional component and the interpersonal communication component all arrived into this place where it had a straight shot at reality.”
“Planning this reunion over these past months has been like reconnecting with family. We haven’t missed a beat,” says De Reeder. “The stakes are only to have a good time, to revel in this nostalgia. Getting to revisit and celebrate the music from that special time of our lives while experiencing it alongside a lot of people that lived it with us back when, and new folks alike.”
“It couldn’t have happened any sooner,” says Lewis. “It feels like now is the time to share that joy and love with each other and
with everyone else.”
“For some people, Rilo Kiley evokes a formative, emotional time in life, when you were maybe grasping for your place in the universe. We were too,” says Sennett. “Reconnecting with those people is paramount to anything else.”
“It’s going to be wonderful for us, like going back to the purest version of yourself, that early ’20s place where everything is possible,” says Lewis. “You’re in a van and Jason’s got the map, Pierre is behind the wheel, and I’m on the acoustic guitar in the bench seat working out a new song with Blake. I don’t think it’s ever been as good as that, when it was just us against the world.”

At this point, the Menzingers are an absolute institution. The Philadelphia punk legends’ multi-decade reputation as road warriors with an unbeatable catalog is cemented as hard truth—and their seventh album, Some Of It Was True, stands as their most immediate-sounding and energetic record to date. The follow-up to 2019’s sensational Hello Exile accomplishes the daunting task of capturing the Menzingers’ distinctive live energy in the confines of the studio, resulting in a sound that’s both rich, raw, and complementary to the group’s increasingly prismatic songwriting approach. More than 15 years in, the Menzingers are still holding their listeners square in the immediate present.

Grammy-winning guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Christone “Kingfish” Ingram has quickly become the defining blues voice of his generation. From his hometown of Clarksdale, Mississippi to stages around the globe, the young blues star has already headlined multiple U.S. and European tours, and amazed fans in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Canada and India. Selected in summer 2022 to open for the Rolling Stones in London’s Hyde Park, Kingfish has also performed and toured with friends including Vampire Weekend, Jason Isbell, Steve Miller and Buddy Guy, a mentor of his, with whom he appeared on Austin City Limits.
Since he burst onto the scene in 2019, Ingram has been nominated for 12 Blues Music Awards and won them all. Rolling Stone declared, “Kingfish is one of the most exciting young guitarists in years, with a sound that encompasses B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix and Prince.”

MELVINS
REDD KROSS
Stop Your Whining Tour USA 2025
The Melvins are one of modern music’s most influential bands. Having formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington, the group – founded by vocalist/guitarist Buzz Osborne, with drummer Dale Crover joining a year later – has been credited with merging the worlds of punk rock and heavy music, forming a new subgenre all their own. Over their 40-plus-year career, they’ve released more than 30 original albums, numerous live records, and far too many to count singles and rarities. Recent releases include 2024’s Tarantula Heart, a good collection of what the Melvins do, what they can do and what they want to do, and Five Legged Dog (2021), an ambitious 36-track acoustic collection that reimagines their heaviest songs alongside covers of their favorite artists. Throughout their discography, the Melvins have collaborated with Jello Biafra, Mudhoney, and Fantômas for individual releases and toured the world many times over. Remarkably, they had the misfortune to be in both Christchurch and Tokyo for their 2011 earthquakes. In 2012, the Melvins completed the “51 States in 51 Days” (50 states +DC) tour, which was chronicled in the film “Across The USA in 51 Days.” The current incarnation of the band is Osborne, Crover, and Steven McDonald (Redd Kross). Previous lineups included a pairing of Osborne and Crover with Jared Warren and Coady Willis of Big Business, a four-piece featuring the current trio plus Jeff Pinkus, as well as Melvins Lite, which partners Osborne and Crover with Mr. Bungle’s Trevor Dunn.

An Evening with DANIEL DONATO’S COSMIC COUNTRY
There are a lot of musical influences and sources that Daniel Donato has drawn on during his career and that inform Reflector (Retrace Music), the Nashville guitarist-singer-songwriter-band leader’s first all-original album. But within those Donato has carved out a unique and individualized spot for himself, one that speaks to the deep American music heritage that inspires him — and that he’s pushing towards the future with inspired, intentional vigor.
He calls it Cosmic Country, a moniker that’s both self-descriptive and a statement of purpose. It’s an organic rock band aesthetic with plenty of roadhouse twang, a showcase for Donato’s instrumental virtuosity and facility for melodically infectious songcraft. Bridging Nashville and the Great West, Kentucky and mid-60s northern California, tie-dye and plaid, it’s a world of his own, and wide world of musical adventure at that.
“I think Cosmic Country is a tale as old as time, really,” Donato explains. “It’s yin and yang in a musical form. It’s three chords and the truth, and then on the other side it’s exploration and bravery. I really went through a lot of years of grinding, and still am, to achieve this sound which is a vehicle for my personality, and the personality is a vehicle for my soul. So (Reflector) is more that than any other record I ever put out.”

Fantastic Cat
Hailed by Rolling Stone as “a wildly satisfying collection of folk-rock, country, Americana, and good old rock & roll,” Fantastic Cat gleefully careens between genres and decades, mixing electrified 60’s roots and 70’s AM radio gold as they diligently work craftsmanship and ecstatic abandon in equal measure.
Individually, each member of Fantastic Cat boasts their own impressive resume along with a litany of critical acclaim. The Guardian dubbed Don DiLego “one to watch.” NPR said Anthony D’Amato “sings and writes in the tradition of Bruce Springsteen or Josh Ritter.” Rolling Stone called Brian Dunne’s latest single a “stunner” and praised Mike Montali’s band, Hollis Brown, as “the soundtrack for a late-night drive through the American heartland.” Collectively, though, the four transcend their respective roots, emerging as an instrument-swapping, harmony-trading, tear-jerking, wise-cracking rock and roll cooperative far greater than the sum of its parts. Come experience Fantastic Cat live always a wildly energetic and entertaining show!
